Chiropractic Care for Waikato Farmers

Connected Wellness supports dairy farmers, dry stock farmers, stud hands, and rural contractors across the Waikato. Two locations in Matamata and Morrinsville. Late appointments available until 7pm.

Farming runs on a body that holds up

A working farm doesn't stop for a sore back. The stock still needs shifting, the fences still need checking, and the year keeps moving whether you're ready or not.

Most farmers who come in have been pushing through something for a while. A shoulder that's been niggling since last spring. A lower back that locks up the first hour of the morning. The kind of thing that's easier to deal with now than in the middle of calving or harvest.

What Chiropractic Care supports

Farm work is repetitive and physical in ways most office work isn't. Twisting to look over your shoulder. Bracing against gates and stock. Vibration through the seat of the tractor for hours at a time. Lifting from awkward angles, usually in mud.

Things farmers commonly come in with:

  • Lower back pain from lifting and long days in the cab

  • Stiff hips and tight glutes from machinery and standing on uneven ground

  • Neck pain and headaches from constantly looking over the shoulder

  • Shoulder strain from gate work and stock handling

  • Recovery support through the busier stretches of the year

We shape the plan around what your week actually looks like and what's coming up on the calendar.

How an appointment runs

Your first visit is a full consultation. We talk through your work and your history, hear what season you're heading into and what's bothering you, and assess how you move.

For most farmers, manual chiropractic care is the main technique we use. It's the traditional, hands on form of chiropractic: a precise, controlled adjustment of a spinal joint to restore better movement. It's what most farmers prefer, and weather hardened bodies tend to respond well to a firm, direct adjustment. You may hear a popping sound from the joint during an adjustment, which is normal and not painful.

When it suits the person or the area being worked on, we also use:

  • Activator. A small, spring loaded instrument that delivers a gentler, targeted adjustment.

  • Drop table. A treatment table with sections that drop a short distance to assist the adjustment.

After the initial visit, most appointments take about 10 minutes or less.

FAQ

Do I need a referral? No. You can book directly online or call the clinic.

Will ACC cover my visit? If you have an active ACC claim for an injury sustained in the past 12 months, yes. If you don't, we can help lodge a claim during your visit when appropriate.

Is it safe? Chiropractic care in New Zealand is regulated by the Chiropractic Board. Every appointment is tailored to the person in front of us. We adjust technique based on age, build, and condition.

Will it hurt? Most patients find adjustments comfortable. A manual adjustment may produce a popping sound, which is nitrogen gas releasing from the joint. Gentler techniques like the activator and drop table are available if preferred.

How often do I need to come in? That depends on the person, the work, and what we find at the first appointment. We talk through a plan together.
