Chiropractic care for every stage of family life

Connected Wellness has a strong focus on pregnancy and paediatric care, with over a decade of experience supporting Waikato families. Two locations in Matamata and Morrinsville.

A clinic that grows with your family

Family life moves through stages, and a body has to keep up with all of them. Pregnancy changes how weight is carried and how posture settles. The early months with a baby change sleep, movement, and how a parent uses their body all day long. School age kids carry heavy bags and spend a lot of time at desks. Teenagers slump over phones. Parents pick up toddlers, lift car seats, and run on broken sleep.

A lot moves between the first scan and the first day of school, and a lot more between that and the high school years. The right kind of support along the way makes a real difference.

Connected Wellness sees the whole family. You don't need to come in with a particular problem. Many families visit for general support, a check in, or to keep something small from becoming something bigger.

Care for parents

The parent's body does a lot of the heavy lifting, often without much warning. Pregnancy and birth shift the pelvis, the hips, and the lower back. Carrying a toddler on one hip, settling a baby at 3am, sitting hunched while feeding, hauling car seats in and out, sleeping in odd positions on a child's bed. The wear is real, and it's easy to put your own body at the bottom of the list.

Reasons parents come in:

  • Lower back, pelvic, or hip discomfort after birth

  • Neck and shoulder tension from feeding, settling, and lifting

  • Headaches and tightness from broken sleep and tense days

  • Wrist and forearm strain from constant lifting

  • A general reset, especially in the first year with a new baby

Many parents tell us the appointment itself is one of the few times in the week the body gets attention. We take that seriously.

Pregnancy care

This is a short section of centred text as a rest break on the eyes from more photographic stacks. It would be best to be kept to not more than about four lines of text, as research shows long sections of text can become cumbersome to read without a tidy left margin.Care during pregnancy is adapted as the body changes. We use different techniques, different positioning, and a different pace depending on where you are in the trimester.

Reasons mums come in:

  • Pelvic, hip, and lower back discomfort

  • Pubic symphysis dysfunction

  • Sciatic style symptoms down the leg

  • Posture and breathing changes through the third trimester

  • Recovery in the weeks and months after birth

The approach is gentle, and comfort and safety guide every appointment.

Care for babies and children

Children aren't small adults. Their bodies are still developing, and care for them looks different from the start. Pressure is very light, positions are easy, and appointments are short and unhurried.

Reasons families bring their little ones in:

  • Settling and movement in the early weeks

  • A preference to turn or look one way

  • Support around feeding and latching

  • Tumbles, knocks, and the everyday wear of crawling, walking, and running

  • General check ins as they grow

Older children and teenagers receive a different style again, adapted to their size and stage.

How an appointment runs

Your first visit is a full consultation. We talk through what's going on, the family history, and what you're hoping to get out of the appointment. We assess how you or your child is moving, and then we agree on a plan.

Care for pregnancy, babies, and young children is almost always gentle. The two techniques we use most often in these cases are designed to deliver a precise, low force adjustment without the firmer hands on style some adults associate with chiropractic care.

  • Activator. A small, spring loaded instrument that delivers a gentle, targeted impulse to a specific joint. The pressure is light and the movement is small, which makes it well suited to pregnant mums in any trimester as well as babies and young children.

  • Drop table. A treatment table with sections that drop a short distance under controlled pressure. The table does most of the work, so the chiropractor uses very little force. It's comfortable, controlled, and easy for the body to receive.

Manual adjustment, the more traditional hands on technique, is also available. We tend to use it with older children, teenagers, and adult family members when it suits the person. The technique is always chosen for the person in front of us.

FAQ

Is Chiropractic Care safe during pregnancy?

Yes it is. Care is adapted to each trimester. Pressure, positioning, and technique are chosen to suit the stage of pregnancy and the individual.

Is Chiropractic Care safe for babies?

Yes it is. When caring for babies, we use very light pressure and every appointment is paced and adapted to the child.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly online or call the clinic.

Will ACC cover my visit?

If you have an active ACC claim for an injury sustained in the past 12 months, yes. If you don't, we can help lodge a claim during your visit when appropriate.

How often will my child need to come in?

That depends on the child and the reason for the visit. We talk through a plan at the first appointment.
