Gentle chiropractic care for staying mobile, capable, and independent
Connected Wellness supports older adults across the Waikato. Two locations in Matamata and Morrinsville.
Mobility is the foundation of independence
Staying independent rests on a handful of small movements. Getting in and out of the car without thinking about it. Walking down the hallway without leaning on the wall. Bending to pick something up and standing back up the same way.
When those things start to get harder, the rest of life narrows along with them. Looking after how you move is one of the most useful things you can do for the years ahead.
What Chiropractic Care supports
Time changes the body in fairly predictable ways. Joints lose some of their range. Muscles tighten in some places and weaken in others. Posture drifts.
Reasons older adults come in:
Stiffness in the hips, knees, or lower back
Neck tension and the headaches that come with it
Balance and confidence on uneven ground or stairs
Recovery from minor injuries, falls, or surgery
General movement support as the years tick on
The aim is function: keeping the body capable for the daily things that matter.
How an appointment runs
Your first visit is a full consultation. We sit down, hear about your health history and any medications you're on, talk through what's bothering you, and assess how you move. From there, we agree on a plan.
Care for older adults is almost always gentle. The two techniques we use most often are designed to deliver a precise, low force adjustment without the firmer hands on style some people associate with chiropractic care.
Activator. A small, spring loaded instrument that delivers a gentle, targeted impulse to a specific joint. The pressure is light and the movement is small, which makes it well suited to bodies that need a softer approach.
Drop table. A treatment table with sections that drop a short distance under controlled pressure. The table does most of the work, so the chiropractor uses very little force. It's comfortable, controlled, and easy for the body to receive.
Manual adjustment, the more traditional hands on technique, is also available when it suits the person. Pace and pressure are always chosen for the individual.

FAQ
Is chiropractic care safe for older adults?
Care is adapted to the person. For many older adults, we use the activator or drop table rather than hands on adjustment. Light pressure, careful pacing.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly online or call our clinics.
Will ACC cover my visit?
If you have an active ACC claim for an injury sustained in the past 12 months, yes. If you don't, we can help lodge a claim during your visit when appropriate.
Will it hurt?
Most patients find adjustments comfortable. Manual adjustments may produce a popping sound, which is nitrogen gas releasing from the joint. Gentler techniques are available if preferred.
Can I be seen if I have osteoporosis or other conditions?
Yes, in most cases. We adapt technique to the person. Bring along a list of your conditions and medications to your first appointment.
How often will I need to come in?
That depends on the person and what we find during the first appointment. We will always talk through a plan together at the start of your care.
